Landship is a project that pushes the boundaries of Carnival art. A parade arrives, tells a story and leaves again. We are keen to experiment & develop new approaches to our work and extend our collaboration with artists of different disciplines, in particular theatre and dance.

In 2016 our members were involved in a collaborative project ‘Green Fields and beyond’ celebrating the 100th anniversary of the creation of the tank. Project participants experienced first time involvement with site specific, location theatre. The uniform costumes and the tank are produced in natural calico and are representative rather than replica. We have recognised the need to create a narrative in Carnival Art in order that our audience is not simply pedestrian.

The original work with the tank was part of a project to commemorate the creation of the 'Landship' in Lincoln. The community play was conceived with four partners with Shademakers providing costume, life size cavalry horse and rider puppets and the full scale representative tank. Initial input was our parade element which provided the community access but all the costume and structure were integrated as part of the stage performance within the arena of Lincoln Castle.
