Funniest Shademakers memory?
Arriving in Douai France, with the tigers, we located the event HQ to sign in , where Sharon took the lead to explain to the official’s who we were. Sadly but hilariously, with no concept of the French language “We are Shademakers we are TIGERS” then followed lots hand gestures growling facial expressions, depicting a tiger, this lasted a good few minutes. Much to the bewilderment of the officials. The rest of us holding back our laughter, luckily an English speaker came by to rescue the situation to the relief of the officials, “Geeeeerrr”.

Favourite Shademakers theme?
Martin is responsible for all safety and technical requirements for both Shademakers and Department.
Martin was born and educated and trained on the Isle of Wight, is married and has three adult sons. He gained City and Guilds qualification in his chosen profession as Carpenter and Joiner, developing his own business, until taking a major management role in the family Hotel chain company. As a lifelong participant in the local Carnivals on the Island Martin has since taken active interest in committee membership of Ryde Carnival Committee and as Chairman at various intervals. He is an active board member of Shademakers and performs at regular events. He plays an important role in Shademakers production as Technical and Structural engineer.
